Interesting; I did not know that. A lot more recent than I would have imagined.

And when was not believing in the Loch Ness monster invented?

The first person to deny the existence of the Loch Ness Monster was Alistair Kirkland, a 97-year-old birdwatcher who, in 2014 was heard to say, "Yer aff yer heid! If it's not on my lifelist, it don't exist!"

Ah. They'd go halfway around the world to spot a Trogan, so if anyone
could have nailed Nessie, it would have been a birder. Fer shure.

Atheism was invented in 1978 by French poststructuralist Michel Foucault on the occasion of his girlfriend's 10th wedding anniversary.
Philosophical atheist thought began to appear in Europe and Asia in
the sixth or fifth century BCE. Will Durant, in his The Story of
Civilization, explained that certain pygmy tribes found in Africa were
observed to have no identifiable cults or rites. There were no totems,
no deities, and no spirits. Their dead were buried without special
ceremonies or accompanying items and received no further attention.
They even appeared to lack simple superstitions, according to
travelers' reports. The Vedas of Ceylon admitted only the possibility
that deities might exist but went no further. Neither prayers nor
sacrifices were suggested in any way by the tribes
for the idiot Theists the 6th century is from 600 - 501 BCE

This is a misunderstanding. Such observation has misunderstood the
relationship between God and man. It assumes that God would always
require human worship. If there is no evidence of human worship found,
then the people must be atheists. However, the real fact is that God
does not need human worship. God only wants humans to be happy as they
had always been when they were in paradise. For those ancient tribes
living in the remote area far away from the centers of human
civilization, their primitive way of life did not cause them to sin and
suffer in sin. So they were actually people who had never been abandoned
by God. They were people who were living with God without any
intellectual knowledge of God, and God was only too happy for them to
stay that way since the intellectual knowledge would only cause the
separation of God and man. Therefore, these ancient people should be
considered as people who were still living in the paradise. They didn't
know God, but they didn't know sin either.

Africa were observed to have no identifiable cults or rites.
There were no totems,
no deities, and no spirits. Their dead were buried without
special ceremonies or accompanying items and received no further
attention.
They even appeared to lack simple superstitions, according to
travelers' reports. The Vedas of Ceylon admitted only the
possibility that deities might exist but went no further. Neither
prayers nor sacrifices were suggested in any way by the tribes
for the idiot Theists the 6th century is from 600 - 501 BCE
This is a misunderstanding. Such observation has misunderstood the
relationship between God and man. It assumes that God would always
require human worship. If there is no evidence of human worship found,
then the people must be atheists. However, the real fact is that
God does not need human worship. God only wants humans to be happy
as they had always been when they were in paradise. For those
ancient tribes living in the remote area far away from the centers
of human civilization, their primitive way of life did not cause
them to sin and suffer in sin. So they were actually people who
had never been abandoned by God. They were people who were living
with God without any intellectual knowledge of God, and God was
only too happy for them to stay that way since the intellectual
knowledge would only cause the separation of God and man.
Therefore, these ancient people should be considered as people who
were still living in the paradise. They didn't know God, but they
didn't know sin either.

Why would I want to do that?
Because a real philosophical understanding must be based on the

Atheism was invented in 1978 by French poststructuralist
Michel Foucault on the occasion of his girlfriend's 10th
wedding anniversary.
Philosophical atheist thought began to appear in Europe and
Asia in the sixth or fifth century BCE. Will Durant, in his
The Story of Civilization, explained that certain pygmy
tribes found in Africa were observed to have no
identifiable cults or rites. There were no totems,
no deities, and no spirits. Their dead were buried without
special ceremonies or accompanying items and received no
further attention.
They even appeared to lack simple superstitions, according
to travelers' reports. The Vedas of Ceylon admitted only
the possibility that deities might exist but went no
further. Neither prayers nor sacrifices were suggested in
any way by the tribes for the idiot Theists the 6th century
is from 600 - 501 BCE
This is a misunderstanding. Such observation has
misunderstood the relationship between God and man. It
assumes that God would always require human worship. If
there is no evidence of human worship found,
then the people must be atheists. However, the real fact is
that God does not need human worship. God only wants humans
to be happy as they had always been when they were in
paradise. For those ancient tribes living in the remote area
far away from the centers of human civilization, their
primitive way of life did not cause them to sin and suffer
in sin. So they were actually people who had never been
abandoned by God. They were people who were living with God
without any intellectual knowledge of God, and God was only
too happy for them to stay that way since the intellectual
knowledge would only cause the separation of God and man.
Therefore, these ancient people should be considered as
people who were still living in the paradise. They didn't
know God, but they didn't know sin either.

The accuracy of your point notwithstanding, it's only fair
to tell you that Jack was merely counter-punning: my
previous comment was a pun on the title of one of
Foucault's more famous writings. I wasn't actually pitching
any ontology or epistemology, and I doubt that Jack (in his
response to me) was doing so, either.

There is no object in studying any philosophy. Objects are only studied
by science. The job of philosophy is only to explain those scientific
objects by studying the philosophical subjects that will determine those
scientific objects. For example, intelligent design is to explain DNA
change by studying intelligence. Intelligence is the philosophical
subject. DNA change is the scientific object. Intelligent design is the
philosophical theory of life that explains DNA change.

Any event or topic can be discussed in philosophical sense, if you want to!

But, a camp fire cannot have a happy ending if there is no wood or charcoal.
All you do is to look at the star and wonder....thinking how you can overcome your head injury, philosophically.

Actually, Yes. My head injury has given me the best opportunity to
engage in a meaningful spiritual practice. Fighting against my stupid
head has given me a lot of practice about how to overcome sin and evil.
I was literally fighting against the sin in my head. After I was fully
exhausted, by the grace of God, I suddenly could actually read a
sentence and understand its meaning. I was more than overjoyed.

charcoal. All you do is to look at the star and wonder....thinking
how you can overcome your head injury, philosophically.
Harriet Tubman also suffered from long term effects of a head injury. Possibly epilepsy.
My everyday normal exercise is to stare into my computer screen for a
long period of time until there is meaning coming from within me so that
I can make a reply. It doesn't always happen easily. So I have to keep
staring even though there is nothing in my head. This is how I
understood that knowledge and understanding are always God's gift given
to us from the within. We only believe that our mind is knowledgeable,
but according to my experience, it's entirely empty with no real ability
to understand anything. God is the real keeper of knowledge who has the
total control over knowledge.

Therefore, the real seeker of knowledge should always look within
because that is where our knowledge comes from. When we are honest to
God, when we can be loyal to God, we will be given the necessary
knowledge so that we can serve God and benefit the people we love.

There is no object in studying any philosophy.
Hence there is no object TO studying any philosophy.
There is no object studied by any philosophy. There are only
many subjects studied by all philosophy. Philosophy studies
the spiritual(metaphysical?). There can't be any object
existing in the spiritual or metaphysical reality.
My campfire is an object of philosophical interest--wood,
charcoal, heat. Do I have enough wood for the night, do I need
to get more, do I care? These questions can be considered in a
philosophical light.
Not really. It's all physical science. Nothing philosophical. Only
the happiness and joy coming from your heart when you dance around
the campfire can be philosophical.

Harriet might agree. On the other hand, she certainly had to keep her eyes and ears open to what was going on around her. That's how she kept from being caught and re-enslaved.

Hm, a very remarkable woman according to wikipedia. I think I do have
something similar like hers. I do have private lessons from God, but
it's not just dreams. My lesson often lasts for days and weeks both day
and night as well as both waking and sleeping. It's both exciting and
challenging. I'm just so pleased that even in my sleep I did not forsake
God. During the waking time, however, it's not that easy at all. There
was one time, I peed all over the floor because I was so scared. I
couldn't stop myself, and I knew it was God who was trying to tell me
what kind of coward I was.

that are full of wisdom and that your sinful mind is, indeed, full of foolishness.
Atheists are sin personified.

There is no object in studying any philosophy.
Hence there is no object TO studying any philosophy.
There is no object studied by any philosophy. There are only
many subjects studied by all philosophy. Philosophy studies
the spiritual(metaphysical?). There can't be any object
existing in the spiritual or metaphysical reality.
My campfire is an object of philosophical interest--wood,
charcoal, heat. Do I have enough wood for the night, do I need
to get more, do I care? These questions can be considered in a
philosophical light.
Not really. It's all physical science. Nothing philosophical. Only
the happiness and joy coming from your heart when you dance around
the campfire can be philosophical.
Any event or topic can be discussed in philosophical sense, if you want to!
But, a camp fire cannot have a happy ending if there is no wood or
charcoal. All you do is to look at the star and wonder....thinking
how you can overcome your head injury, philosophically.
Ya, I do understand you are in possession of a stupid head, in your own personal words. And the injury has added salt to the wound.

Wow, so you feel exhausted after each reading?
Sorry, but you have to wait for science to come up with the cure for such condition because there is no pixie in anticipation for healing.....

It merely heals the wound, not repair to the vast damaged neurons network.
To get back to near original, the damaged cells have to be scrapped out and replaced with new cells....this is beyond our current medical technology.
In short, you are more or less permanently disabled in many areas of your brain functions!!!

And that is the reason for your insanity, spewing unfathomable word salads all the time!!!

That's just your speculation. The fact is that you don't really
understand me. Otherwise, you would at least be able to prove why they
are word salads. You can't, so your understanding is actually inferior
as far as philosophy is concerned.

Better than someone who believes in con stuffs, to waste his whole life for nothing.
It amazes me that people can get a Doctor of Divinity degree while
studying basically a delusional house of cards built around an absent
subject.
There is no surprise for such amazing stupidity.
If some of the theists are issued a Doctor of Stupidity, it would be quite appropriate as well...

Atheism was invented in 1978 by French poststructuralist Michel
Foucault on the occasion of his girlfriend's 10th wedding anniversary.
I was an atheist well before 1978, so it must have been me that invented it.

Besides, this post is an opportunity to talk about whether atheism even has origins or whether it's the default worldview. It's not exactly a troll-post, it's also a conversation starter.

It was a good discussion starter. An excellent source of historical
background information on atheism are the collections of American Atheist
Radio Programs by Madalyn Murray O'Hair. These books include tons of history
and much more.

What On Earth Is An Atheist
An Atheist Speaks
Atheist Heroes And Heroines
The Atheist World
All About Atheists

These books are available from American Atheist Press.

I forgot to mention another of O'Hair's books that should be of interest to non-
atheists, as well as new atheists:

All The Questions You Ever Wanted To Ask American Atheists With
All The answers by John Murray and Madalyn Murray O'Hair

These are questions boiled down from those asked on the show, at lectures
and in letters. Some of the questioners are pretty snarky but get patient
and explanatory answers. Many times it's obvious that the questioner doesn't
like the answer given and only wants to push their own beliefs. Sounds just
like the trolls invading alt.atheism. But, the answers are given in full detail.

There are no "default" worldviews. We make it all up as we go.

So the first atheist was the first gal or guy to react skeptically to
someone's assertion that the world was created by, well, someone else,
usually looking quite a bit like himself...

No, there are not : it's impossible. It's just a blank. All we can do is
describe reality. The rest is imagination, fantasy and the will to
control people by making them believe your fantasy.

And knowing how many "gods" were invented by us over the years is pretty
much evidence of us making it all up.
