Revelation 8: Silence Before the Storm
https://christrose.news/2024/12/revelation-8-silence-before-storm.html
Introduction
Revelation 8 portrays the awe-inspiring moment of silence in heaven
before God's judgment unfolds. This chapter begins with the opening of
the seventh seal, revealing profound anticipation of God's final plan
(8:1). The silence underscores the gravity of the coming judgment, where
heaven itself pauses in solemn reverence. The imagery of seven trumpets
given to angels illustrates the structured and intentional nature of
God’s wrath (8:2). As the prayers of the saints ascend with incense, we
see God’s attentiveness to the cries of His people (8:3-4). The
judgments begin with fire cast to the earth, signifying divine justice
and a wake-up call to the unrepentant (8:5). Each trumpet blast brings
escalating calamities, affecting the earth, sea, rivers, and skies,
reminding us of the temporal nature of creation and the urgency to turn
to God (8:6-12). The eagle’s cry warns of even greater woes to come,
urging repentance before it is too late (8:13).
Proposition
You should heed God's warnings.
Because God’s justice demands reverence (8:1-2)
The silence in heaven reflects the awe and respect due to God’s holy and
perfect justice. This is not ordinary silence but a deliberate pause,
emphasizing the gravity of God’s righteous judgments. The use of silence
as a precursor to divine action finds precedent in Scripture, such as
Habakkuk 2:20: "The Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth keep
silence before him." For the original audience, this silence would evoke
the stillness associated with temple worship and the acknowledgment of
God's supreme authority.
Because God hears your prayers (8:3-4)
The prayers of the saints ascend with incense, symbolizing intentional
and fervent communication with God. The word "prayers" (proseuche)
conveys an act of worship, expressing dependence on God, as seen in
Philippians 4:6. For the original audience, the imagery of incense
parallels the temple rituals where incense symbolized the people's
prayers rising to God (Exodus 30:7-8). This reminds you that God values
your prayers, aligning them with His will and using them in His
sovereign plan.
Because God demonstrates His power (8:5)
The angel casting fire to the earth signifies God’s supreme authority
over creation and His capacity to enact justice. The word "fire" (pur)
often symbolizes purification or judgment, as seen in Malachi 3:2-3.
This act would resonate with the original audience, familiar with fire
as a means of both cleansing and judgment in Jewish sacrificial
practices. It reminds you that God’s power is intentional, not chaotic,
and His judgments are always righteous and purposeful.
Because God calls for repentance (8:6-12)
The trumpet judgments progressively impact creation, symbolizing
warnings to turn from sin. The word "trumpet" (salpigx) carries a dual
significance: announcing divine judgment and calling people to
repentance, echoing Old Testament uses (e.g., Joel 2:1). For the first-
century audience, these trumpets would evoke the shofar blasts of Jewish
festivals, including the Day of Atonement, which called for reflection
and repentance. These judgments highlight God’s mercy in extending
opportunities to repent before facing ultimate consequences.
Because greater judgments await (8:13)
The eagle’s cry warns of worse judgments ahead, emphasizing the urgency
of heeding God’s warnings. The word "eagle" (aetos) often symbolizes
swiftness and vigilance, as seen in Deuteronomy 28:49. This warning
would resonate with the audience’s understanding of prophetic imagery,
urging them to take God’s warnings seriously. Ignoring these signs leads
to eternal consequences, but responding now offers the hope of salvation.
Invitation
My dear friends, Revelation 8 stands as a stark and solemn warning of
the justice and mercy of God. It opens with a silence that should chill
the soul—a silence not of peace, but of preparation. Heaven itself
pauses, as if to weigh the gravity of what is to come. The prayers of
the saints ascend before God, mingled with the incense of divine mercy,
while the angels prepare to sound the trumpets of judgment. Each blast
speaks louder than words of the rebellion of man and the holiness of God.
Do you hear the urgency in this passage? The world reels under God’s
judgments, yet men cling to their sin as though it were a lifeboat and
not a sinking stone. The earth, the sea, the rivers, and the skies bear
witness to a creation groaning under the weight of human wickedness, yet
hearts remain hardened. How tragic, how terrifying it is, to see God’s
judgments unfold and yet refuse His mercy.
But my dear friend, hear me—though the trumpets sound and judgments
fall, there is yet hope for you. The same God who warns of wrath offers
a way of escape. Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, bore the full weight of
judgment for sin. He suffered, bled, and died in your place, offering
Himself as the perfect sacrifice. His resurrection from the dead is
God’s great declaration that His justice has been satisfied.
Will you not turn to Him? The very judgments described in this chapter
call you to repentance. Do not wait for the final trumpet to sound, for
then it will be too late. Even now, He calls you—yes, He calls you—to
change your mind about your sin, to turn from the idols of your heart,
and to look to Him who alone can save. Call upon His name, and He will
not turn you away.
Without Christ, you face an eternity of separation from God, bearing the
full weight of His wrath against sin. But in Christ, you find
forgiveness, peace, and the sure hope of eternal life. Do not tarry, my
friend. The danger is real, but so is the mercy of God. Run to Christ as
your refuge, for He is mighty to save.
For Believers
To you who belong to Christ, Revelation 8 carries a solemn charge. The
prayers of the saints rise like incense before the throne of God, and
this reminds you of your privilege and responsibility to pray. Do you
pray for the lost? Do you intercede for the wayward and plead for their
repentance? God hears your prayers, and He uses them to accomplish His
purposes in this world. Take up this sacred duty with renewed urgency,
knowing that your prayers are not in vain.
The silence in heaven should also stir your heart to worship. Consider
the awe and reverence of the heavenly host as they pause before the
unfolding of God’s justice. Does your worship reflect such holy
reverence? Renew your devotion to the Lamb who was slain, for He alone
is worthy to open the scroll and bring God’s plans to completion.
Finally, live as one who understands the urgency of the times. The
judgments described in this chapter remind you that this world is
passing away. Do not grow comfortable here. Stand firm in your faith,
share the gospel with boldness, and call others to repentance while
there is still time. The warnings of Revelation are not only for the
unrepentant; they are for you, that you might walk in holiness and
declare the glories of the One who called you out of darkness into His
marvelous light.
Let the gravity of these truths inspire you to live with purpose, to
pray with fervor, and to worship with awe. May God grant you the grace
to be a light in a dark world, holding fast to His promises and
proclaiming His truth until the day He returns.

1) Who says he does not have a sin nature?
Answer: Gaslighter "McClean"
2) Who denies that he has sinned even a single time in the last 37+
years (while we see him sinning on a daily basis)?
Answer: Gaslighter "McClean".
3) Who therefore does not have the truth or the word of God in him, as
he seeks to make God out to be a liar every day of his life?
Answer: Gaslighter "McClean".
He spends all day trying to justify his own sins, by falsely accusing
others of what he himself does on a daily basis.

Post by In the Name of JesusAnd then they tell others how sinful they are. :-).
Translation: We don't LIE and deceive ourselves like you do, when you
deny you have a sin nature, or ever sin.
A son of God has been saved, transformed, and translated from what He
was...forever...and now resides in Christ Jesus, a new creature free of
sin and death.
This sinner religionist doesn't know anything about that.
To tell these people you must worship God in spirit and in truth for who
He is; it is like you are speaking to them in a foreign language!
He only vomits out of his sin-impeded blind state; he doesn't know any
different.
But... but he was given more than enough opportunities to see he is
wrong about everything and thus repent of all he is.
But, nope, he chose himself first instead of his Creator, so he remains
in his "exchanging the truth for a lie" mistreatment and abuse of the Lord.
He can say all he likes about me, but that does not shield him from what
he is—a totally self-righteous sinful wanker. Other than that, he's
wonderful. :-).
In the Name of Jesus
Our new nature is sinlessly perfect "in Christ" (2 Corinthians 5:17;
Ephesians 4:24). Our old nature is sinful (Romans 7:21-25; 1 John
1:8-9). Believers have both an old and new nature (Galatians 5:16-17;
Romans 8:10-11) till the old nature is eradicated in glory (1
Corinthians 15:42-44; Philippians 3:20-21; Romans 8:18-25).
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has
passed away; behold, the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17, ESV).
...and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true
righteousness and holiness (Ephesians 4:24, ESV).
So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close
at hand. For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see
in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and
making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched
man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to
God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of
God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin (Romans
7:21-25, ESV).
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in
us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our
sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:8-9, ESV).
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of
the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the
desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to
each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do (Galatians
5:16-17, ESV).
But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the
Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised
Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the
dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who
dwells in you (Romans 8:10-11, ESV).
So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable;
what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in
glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. It is sown a
natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body,
there is also a spiritual body (1 Corinthians 15:42-44, ESV).
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the
Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his
glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things
to himself (Philippians 3:20-21, ESV).
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth
comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation
waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the
creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him
who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from
its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the
children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning
together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the
creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit,
groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption
of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is
not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do
not see, we wait for it with patience (Romans 8:18-25, ESV).

Why does it say people who deny they
have a sin nature or ever sin are
self-dedeived, rather than deceivers?
Because they fail to deceive others! No
one in here believes this hypocrite tool
is not sinning from day to day! We see
his daily arrogance and hypocrisy in
accusing others of what he himself does
all day, in losing his temper and
profanely cussing people out when things
don't go his way, in pretending like he
himself is the Bible, in trying to
portray reliance on the Bible as
immature, yet acting as if his own ideas
are what people ought to be listening
to, etc. Then he thinks people will be
too "stooopid" to notice his own
arrogance and hypocrisy!
He shows what an envy-boy tool of Satan
he is on a daily basis, trying to
replace God's word with his own.
ENVY-BOY tool of Satan quips and ideas!
Further, he's the biggest HYPOCRITE liar
in here! Every single day he claims he's
walking in sinless perfection, yet
constantly accuses those who admit they
sin of being the ones who are
"perfectionist sinners". That's exactly
what HE is. He's a sinner, claiming to
walk in sinless perfection, without any
sin nature or acts of sin, whatsoever.
SELF-EVIDENT, HYPOCRITE LIAR!
He routinely loses control of himself
and cusses people out with profane
language, then tells you you're the one
mistreating the Lord. The Lord says
those who mistreat His people are
mistreating Him.
You couldn't be a more self-evident,
arrogant, hypocrite troll of Satan.
Post by In the Name of JesusThey continually exchange the truth for a lie and then pat

Exactly what YOU do, hypocrite, envy-boy
LIAR! Everything you do is what you
spend day and night accusing others of,
you self-evident hypocrite! This shows
your conscience bothers you. You're the
one exchanging the truth of God for your
self-righteous denial of your own daily
sin, claiming YOU are the Bible, and
that God's actual word isn't needed, as
you ceaselessly accuse God's people of
everything YOU are doing, trying to make
a vicarous atonement for yourself out of
others who actually believe and follow
God.
You are the very definition of an
heretic, anti-christ, abuser of Christ
and His people! You walk around in your
daily arrogance, convincing yourself you
are God's word, that you are walking in
sinless perfection, as you constanly
accuse others of everything YOU are
doing! SATANICALLY MANIPULATED TROLL!
Post by In the Name of JesusThey don't even know the beginning point in walking with God: He is the

FALSE ACCUSER (1 John 1:8-9)!
Post by In the Name of JesusAll they constantly discuss is their own theology of fallen man, which
is based on their doctrines of self-justification. In other words, "I am
a better quality of sinner than you are."
1) Hypocrite liar! YOU are the one
promoting your own self-justification
doctrine, when you deny you have a sin
nature, or ever sin (1 John 1:8-9), then
try to make a vicarious atonement out of
those who actually obey the Lord,
accusing them constantly of all ths sins
YOU DO!
The Lord told you to confess your daily
sin when you're asking for your daily
bread, and you LIE and claim He didn't!
The Lord told you to forgive your
"brother" if he comes to you seven times
in a day and says he repents, yet you
say he's not even a "brother", because a
"brother" would never sin. LIAR FROM
SATAN!
You don't follow the real Lord or His
teachings. You OPPOSE everything he told
His followers to do, and try to lead
them away from what the Bible actually
says to YOUR DUMB, BIBLE CONTRADICTING
LIES!
2) You proved no such things as you
claim. You SAY these things constantly,
convincing yourself in your
self-deceived arrogance, yet you are too
IGNORANT of what the Bible actually
says, to make any convincing case.

They are not qualified because they don't know God.
The Bible specifically delcares you to
be the one who does not have the truth
or the word of God in you, and of being
self-deceived (1 John 1:8-9). You are
the most self-evident, arrogant
hypocrite in here. May God strike you
down and shut your mouth as you deserve,
for your ceaseless effort to undermine
His words with your LIES.

Have you heard the good news Christ died
for our sins (†), and God raised Him
from the dead?
That Christ died for our sins shows
we're sinners who deserve the death
penalty. That God raised Him from the
dead shows Christ's death satisfied
God's righteous demands against our sin
(Romans 3:25; 1 John 2:1-2). This means
God can now remain just, while forgiving
you of your sins, and saving you from
eternal damnation.
